TFRS 2012 single-day class offerings are listed below. You may select one single-day (8 hr) class on Saturday and/or one single-day (8 hr) class on Sunday. 
In addition, you may select up to two alternate class choices to be used in the event that your primary choice has no openings left. Please make careful note of the class numbers when filling in the registration form. 
Registration Fee: Register before August 1st and pay only $125 per day (classes which include live burns* are $150) 
Registrations received after August 1st will be charged an additional $50 per day

* all classes utilizing live burns include an asbestos inspection/abatement fee in the cost.

Facial Hair and SCBA Safety Policy:
For the safety of our students, any classes that require the use of SCBA will enforce the no facial hair policy. In effect, any student with facial hair that interferes with the facepiece seal, as determined by the instructor, will not be allowed to participate in the practical portions of the class. No exceptions.

Full Protective Gear/SCBA Safety Policy: Any classes which require full protective gear/SCBA are marked as such. The student will need to supply their own FULL turnout gear including bunker pants w/liner, coat w/liner, boots, gloves, helmet, hood, and breathing apparatus. All clothing must meet COMM 30 requirements. We will provide refills of your air cylinders as needed. Please be sure that the hydrotest dates are current as we cannot fill non-compliant cylinders. Please refrain if at all possible from bringing 4500lb SCBA’s as filling them is a problem on our mobile cascades.

Worker's Compensation Policy:
Each participant must have Worker’s Compensation coverage by their respective department – squad - industry. The Chief Officer of the Department or the industrial employer’s safety officer must sign the registration form.
 
8Single-day Classes (8 hrs)    
  1) Hybrid Vehicle Safety –
Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)

In an effort to properly educate first responders about hybrid electric vehicle safety, the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium offers first responder safety training. This training is available for first responders provides the needed knowledge and training for first responders who will confront a growing number of automotive accidents involving Hybrid Electric Vehicles as these vehicles become increasingly popular

Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)
Experience what its like to pull up on a scene, size-up the incident and begin making initial command decisions.  The class begins with a short lecture and progresses into the command of several scenarios.  Students will be put in the hot seat and act as peer reviewers throughout the action packed day.

4) Hose, Hooks, and Ladders –
Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)
Advanced practical skills sessions on hoselines, ventilation, ladders, and search are the meat of this class.  Students rotate through the skills and are given ample time to practice new and effective techniques.  Full PPE is required.

8) Natural Gas Fires –
Registration Fee: $150 ($200 after August 1st)

Natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are both utilized as a fuel source in rural and urban locations.  This course prepares responders to identify locations were these fuels may be found.  Students will understand chemical and physical characteristics of each fuel in order to survive a response to natural gas and LPG incidents.  Full PPE required.

Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)
Students enrolled in the Structural Collapse Awareness course will understand the general hazards associated with structural collapse incidents, including the recognition of applicable construction types and categories, and the expected behaviors of components and materials in a structural collapse.

14) Officer 101 - Company Officer - Sun only
Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)
Learn the basics of what it means to be an officer on a volunteer department in this class.  This class discusses what it means to be an officer - the qualities, job duties and conduct. First-in considerations including size-up and construction, leadership skills, crew safety and management, training and mentoring, and recruitment and retention are also discussed.

15) Wild-land Firefighting – Sun only
Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)
Learn the basics of Wild-land firefighting and safety, tools and equipment, strategy and tactics, water supply and conservation, and protocols for assistance and working with State and Federal agencies.  The class culminates with a hands-on controlled burn scenario.  Full PPE is required.

16) Survive Alive - Bailouts! - Sun only
Registration Fee: $150 ($200 after August 1st)
This course helps the fire fighter prepare for rescuing themselves from dangerous situations on the fire ground. Students will practice SCBA familiarization drills, disorientation drills, window hangs and bailouts (ladders, hose-lines, and ropes).  Students will also be exposed to the latest bailout technology on the market.  Full PPE and SCBA are required.

17) Large Vehicle Extrication –
Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)

Students will be instructed on how to perform a variety of extrication maneuvers in a variety of real case scenarios, no two of which are the same.  Problem solving techniques will be taught using principles of extrication acquired in the basic class.  Saturday school bus vs auto will be performed and Sunday semi-tractor vs auto will be performed.  Students may participate Saturday and/or Sunday.   Full PPE is required

18) Fire Investigations
Registration Fee: $125 ($175 after August 1st)

This one day class will cover all aspects of fire investigation. Included are; Legal Aspect of Fire Investigation, Fire Behavior, Area of Origin, Accidental fire Causes, Incendiary Fire Causes, Fatal Fire Investigation, Evidence collection, and Scene Documentation.


8Two-day Classes (8 hrs)    

19) Basic Fire-ground Operations - Sat and Sun
Registration Fee: $300 ($350 after August 1st)
This class is designed for the firefighter who is looking to gain experience and street-smart methods of the basic firefighting skills. Day one consists of small breakout in which students will perform firefighting skills on a structure. On day two, students will incorporate the skills learned on day one in realistic and live fire evolutions to reinforce skills and gain valuable fire experience. Full PPE and SCBA are required.

20) Pumper Operations - Sat and Sun
Registration Fee: $250 ($300 after August 1st)

In day 1 of this class, students will participate in a presentation and discussion of hydraulics, tank to pump procedures, pump failures and large diameter hose applications. Day 2 will include practical demonstrations of pump setups and water flow techniques from various sources. Full PPE is required.

21) High Level/High Angle Rescue - Sat and Sun
Registration Fee: $250 ($300 after August 1st)
This will be a two day class. Participants must attend both days. Day one will be basic rescues and day two will cover advanced rescue techniques. There will be review of knots, hardware, safe working loads. A study and evalutation of NFPA 1983 fire service life safety. There will be training inadvanced anchoring system, raising systems direction changes, victim rescue and advanced patient packaging procedures.
